Analyzing the Data and Finding Order Statistics
Before you proceed, you must transfer this data file to
www1.fpl.fs.fed.us via anonymous ftp. You
must place it in the pub/data directory. (If ftp does not run on your
machine, e-mail your data to the address given on the home page of
the nonpar program, and it will be placed in the directory.)
Note that this program is limited to handling data sets of sample size
9999 or less. It assumes that the data set has one observation per
line. If the data set does not meet these requirements, the program can
still be used to identify the order statistics needed to estimate
population percentiles. By sorting the data by increasing value,
the calculations can then be done by hand.
