Board feet to cubic feet conversion

Board Foot to Cubic Foot Ratio Estimation Program

Warning

This program is designed to work for data sets that have been scaled under west coast rounding conventions. It has been calibrated to a large west coast data set. We need to validate this approach on additional data sets before it can be considered to be a proven approach. Further, currently it can only be used to predict two ratios: the gross board foot to net cubic foot ratio, and the net board foot to net cubic foot ratio.

Here is documentation in pdf form.

Here is the FORTRAN and perl source code for this web program.

Metric Units

What is the average (weighted by net metric volume) small end diameter in centimeters? (e.g., 30)

What is the average (weighted by net metric volume) length in decimeters? (e.g., 70)

What is the average (weighted by net metric volume) taper in centimeters (of diameter increase) per decimeter (of length)? (e.g., .1)

English Units

What is the average (weighted by net metric volume) small end diameter in inches? (e.g., 12.2)

What is the average (weighted by net metric volume) length in feet? (e.g., 21.3)

What is the average (weighted by net metric volume) taper in inches (of diameter increase) per foot (of length)? (e.g., .125)
